No-Bake, Mini Heart Cakes

What you will need:

  • 1 PKG Sara Lee Frozen Pound Cake (adjust amount according to how many guests, I found a 16 oz PKG made about 20 cakes)
  • 1 PKG Vanilla Icing
  • 1 1/2 lbs Powdered Sugar
  • 3 TBS Light Corn Syrup
  • 2 TSP Flavoring of your choice (almond, vanilla…)
  • Food Coloring (can be liquid or paste)
  • Small Heart Shaped Cookie Cutter
  • Fun Sprinkles, Icing or any festive candy decoration
  1. While the pound cake is still frozen make sure to cut off the rounded top to give you an even rectangular block of pound cake. Now take this rectangle of cake and cut it in half length wise to give you two even sections of cake.
  2. Take your cookie cutter and cut out as many heart shapes as you can from your cake, making sure to end with an even number. (but if you get an odd number and eat that last heart no one will judge you! )
  3. Pair the two heart together with a dab of the vanilla frosting, making sure to not use too much that it will run out the sides of the cake.
  4. Place half of your heart sandwiches on a cookie drying rack over a cookie sheet that is lined with wax paper.
  5. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar, corn syrup and flavoring.
  6. Pour the icing mixture over the mini heart cakes, emptying the entire bowl of icing. Make sure to thoroughly cover each cake.
  7. Transfer the cookie drying rack to your refrigerator to chill the icing, make sure to put another sheet of wax paper down to collect any additional drips. Let chill about 10 min.
  8. While cakes are chilling pour the icing that collected in the bottom of the cookie sheet back into the bowl, it will be used for a second coating.
  9. Repeat steps 6 – 8 and after your second coating you make now add sprinkles/decorations to make your mini heart cakes extra special!
  10. With the other half of your cakes you will want to cover with pink icing! So simply add a drop or two of red food coloring to your white icing and repeat the process above.
  11. Serve with mini dishes, forks and tongs to add that “aw” factor. Check out Cater Supply Direct.com for some great mini products that are 14% off between 2/11/14 – 2/21/14, just use the code LOVE14 at checkout to save!

This recipe is so simple but the presentation is what makes it stand out!

What you will need:

  • Milk
  • Strawberry Syrup or Powder
  • Sprinkles
  • Light Corn Syrup
  • Whipped Cream
  1. Follow the directions on the strawberry syrup or powder packaging according to how many glasses of strawberry milk you want to make. If you are really in a time crunch you can even buy pre-made strawberry milk!
  2. Take your mini-glass and dip the rim, only about 1/2cm down in the corn syrup then dip the rim into a bowl of sprinkles making sure to coat the entire rim.
  3. Fill each glass with strawberry milk, taking care to not pour onto the sprinkles.
  4. Top with a nice spiral of whipped cream and a dash of more sprinkles!
  5. Keep chilled until right before serving, this will also help set the sugary rim in place. The fluffy whipped cream and sweet strawberry milk are a combination that is sure to make everyone smile.
